Welcome to the SCBWI-Oregon! I am Robin Koontz, the regional advisor with the nickname "Not The Mommy." Before you write to me with questions, be sure to check our
EVENTS link as well as our HELPFUL LINKS to answer questions about children's book publishing and to learn more about what we do here in Oregon and southern Washington. I am always happy to devote my volunteer
time to answer specific questions, but I really appreciate people who do their homework first! If you like, you can learn more about me by going HERE.
More about us:
Our next event is the Annual Spring Conference, May 18 & 19, 2012! Click on EVENTS then CONFERENCE for more information and think about coming!
I have a listserv devoted to writing and illustrating for children which all are welcome to join, just let me know if you are interested and I will send you an invitation. Once you join, you can visit the archives and see what a caring, sharing group this is. You don't have to be a member of the SCBWI to join, but will have limited access to some of the events and opportunities that are posted for members only. We also host this web site which is devoted to our Oregon and southern Washington SCBWI members. We provide updated member info regarding school visits, illustrator samples, published works, and links to SCBWI member webpages. This is a free service for SCBWI Members in Oregon and S. Washington. Send your info to robink (at) scbwior.com. Headed by a steering committee of volunteers, the SCBWI Oregon chapter offers the Spring Conference on the Friday-Saturday after Mother's Day weekend in May. We host a free PAL book celebration in April and a free picnic in the summer. We also assist with new critique groups throughout Oregon and southern Washington. And we host schmoozes throughout the year if people step up to put them together. Be sure to click on the EVENTS button for news of our upcoming events. I try my best to keep it updated. May 18 & 19, 2012 are the dates for our Annual Spring Conference. Registration will open in mid-February, 2012. We now take credit cards via PayPal and two-day registration is NOT required. SCBWI Oregon members will receive information about our event registrations and/or announcements via email, RA blogs, and/or the listserv. The SCBWI has three tiers of membership: PAL, Members, and Associate Members. To learn more about this, please visit www.scbwi.org. Meanwhile, you can download a list of PAL publishers here: PAL PUBLISHERS-JAN2011 | |
